Panda Bear wire pewter dangle earrings from Danforth's Museum Collection. Has maker's mark on back of one earring dated 1991. Back of other earring is plain. This design was inspired by the giant pandas, Ling Ling and Hsing Hsing, that were given to the United States in 1972 as gifts from the Peoples' Republic of China. HSING-Hsing, the surviving pandas, resides at the Smithsonian's National Zoological Park. Very few of this endangered species still exist in the wild.
