Angel Gabriel Danforth pewter Christmas ornament.
Measures 2 5/8 in. wide by 1 in. high.
From the Shelburne Museum Collection
For hundreds of years weathervanes have been used as wind direction indicators and rooftop decorations. This design is modeled after a wooden weathervane found in Ridgefield CT. The original was cut from a single board and probably was made by a local farmer for his barn circa 1880. Comes with box.
